Hollywood Film Awards Kick Off Award Season With George Clooney and Michelle Williams!

Hi there, I’m Lauren Bradshaw, and we’re taking you inside last night’s Hollywood Film Awards, where George Clooney, Michelle Williams, and more stars came out for one of the first award shows of the season. It’s in today’s PopSugar Rush.

Let the award season race begin! If you’re curious to see what names may be on the Golden Globes and Oscar ballots this year, last night’s Hollywood Film Awards may just be your first sneak peek. PopSugar editor Lindsay Miller was at the star-studded event to see the big arrivals and find out who’s getting the most buzz.

Lindsay: The night honored a combination of established actors as well as up and comers. George Clooney and Glenn Close were here as well as Emma Stone and Elle Fanning.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley: I heard George Clooney is here, I’m not going to say anymore, but you know, it’s George Clooney right?

George walked the carpet with his girlfriend Stacy Keibler before heading inside to accept his Hollywood Actor Award for his role in The Descendants.

Boy: What’s up bro?
George: Don’t ever do that to me ever again

In the film, George plays a father of two girls who’s trying to track down his wife’s lover. It’s a part that’s already generating Oscar talk for George, even though the movie has yet to come to theaters.

As for the Hollywood Actress Award, that honor belonged to Michelle Williams for her role as icon Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn.

Reporter: Marilyn, is it true you wear nothing in bed but perfume?
Marilyn: Darling, as I’m in England, let’s say that I sleep in nothing but Yardleys and Lavender.

Lindsay: She also talked with us a little bit about filming Oz and said that this one is for her daughter.

Michelle: It’s been a blast, it’s like an adult playground every day. This one’s for you Matilda.

Lindsay: The Hollywood Film Awards are one of the first award shows of the season and some of the movies being honored tonight, like The Help, have great chances at seeing future nominations from the Oscars and Golden Globes.

Octavia Spencer, The Help: “We’re just really savoring this moment, because we don’t know if we’re going to get invited to the other parties, so this is the party we’re attending, and I think we’re happy to be on the guest list.”

Allison Janney, The Help: “To be standing shoulder to shoulder with all these amazing women is bliss, it’s sheer bliss for me.”

The cast of The Help received the night’s Hollywood Ensemble Award, and Joseph Gordon Levitt took the stage to accept the Hollywood Breakthrough Actor Award for his role in 50/50 from his Dark Knight Rises costar Anne Hathaway. Ben Affleck also made a special appearance as one of the evening’s presenters.
