Raveena Tandon wins the Ageless Beauty Award | Sara Ali Khan inspired by Raveena Tandon | NFBA 2019

At the 2019 Nykaa.com Femina Beauty Awards, the ever-so-ravishing Raveena Tandon won the award for Ageless Beauty. With her unmatchable talent, eternal beauty and heart of gold, Raveena Tandon is truly an inspiration.
From commercially successful films like Mohra and Dulhe Raja to critically-acclaimed Satta and Daman, Raveena has always been at the top of her game. For many, Raveena is the ’90s heartthrob, but there’s much more to this beauty than meets the eye. Watch what the gorgeous diva has to say about Gen Y actors.

A versatile actor, dancer, writer/producer, mother, and wife, all rolled into one—it’s no wonder that Ravishing Raveena Tandon continues to stay on top of the audience’s mind today. She chats about her upcoming web series, how she raises her kids, the kind of marriage she and Anil Thadani have, and the #MeToo movement in the Hindi film industry

She wowed the audience with her dancing prowess in songs like Tu Cheez Badi Hain Mast Mast and Kissi Disco Mein Jaayein in the ’90s. And she set the screen on fire with powerful author-backed performances in films such as Daman, Satta, and, more recently, Maatr. But there is more to Raveena Tandon than a successful career in the Hindi film industry. The actor, who is currently donning multiple hats—that of a writer, producer, actor, philanthropist, wildlife photographer, mother, and wife—is truly unstoppable. We catch up with her as she gears up for her upcoming digital series.

You have done comedies like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with as much panache as serious films such as Satta and Shool. Is there any actor in today’s time who you feel can essay such diverse roles with equal ease?
Amongst the current crop of actors, I think Alia Bhatt can pull off such diverse roles well. Her progress from Student of the Year to Highway was fantastic. But I think most actors are trying that today. In the ’90s, we tried to experiment in our 11th or 12th film. But the younger actors are experimenting as early as in their second film, and their performances are improving by leaps and bounds.
Luckily, our industry is open and liberal enough to hear us out and even reprimand the perpetrators.
When you are approached for a film, what is the one factor you consider before signing on the dotted line? Has this factor changed over the years?
The script has always mattered. Over the years, I have been getting offers and I could have done them to stay in the limelight. But I wanted to do something that touched my heart. So, when Maatr came my way, I decided to do it because the film was about an issue I feel strongly about—rape. And though it was not a commercial success, it was critically acclaimed.

Rumour mills are abuzz with the news that you will be starring in a seven-episode web series. Is it true and can you tell us more?
I have been offered quite a few web series. So far, I have been saying no, but now that I’ve liked one, we’re working on it. I have also turned producer. AA Films, which is our production entity, has tied up with the producers of Baahubali to create three web series. While I will not be acting in them, one of the concepts has been created by me and another has been written entirely by me. I’m enjoying writing and producing these days. We also have a movie in the offing.
You have openly spoken up in support of the #MeToo movement. How tough is it for women to speak up?
It is tough; it is a battle that everyone is facing. But luckily, our industry is open and liberal enough to hear us out, and even reprimand the perpetrators. There is a sense of fear that has settled in and, to a certain extent, we have corrected our ways.
